What is physical therapy?

Physical therapy is the evaluation and treatment of injuries, from athletic injuries to workers' compensation injuries to auto injuries, and more. We are here to help you understand your pain or injury and to guide you through an efficient recovery process so you can return to doing the things you love.

How much does physical therapy cost?

In most cases, we will bill your insurance company for your treatments. If a deductible, co-pay, or co-insurance are part of your plan, payment is expected at the time of service. We also have cash pay programs. Please call our office for details.

We accept all major insurances, including Medicare, Medicaid, Presbyterian, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and many others. We are always working on obtaining contracts with other insurance providers.

What should I expect at my first physical therapy visit?

Come a little early to your first visit, so you can complete all required paperwork (so we can get a better idea of your activities, symptoms, injuries and goals). You’ll then work with one of our physical therapists to go through a thorough evaluation. You might then begin exercises to address injuries, modalities and/or tapings. You’ll leave your very first visit with important information and understanding, as well as a plan for your path forward.

How do I start?

Call us! A referral is not always needed in New Mexico. New Mexico is a “direct access” state, which means that licensed physical therapists can evaluate and treat patients who have not seen a physician first. Whether you can come to a PT without first seeing a doctor is dependent on the specific insurance plan you have, so please call our office or your insurance company to ask if you can come to physical therapy without a referral from a doctor.

Why is physical therapy important?

Physical therapy is important to ensure that injury or post-operation limitations are addressed. This helps you return to your pre-injury status and perform all the activities you were able to perform prior to your injury or surgery.
